Although open surgery is an option at the Weight Management Center, we typically perform laparoscopic weight-loss surgeries because they often result in:

  • Better wound healing
  • Less pain
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Shorter recovery times

Though weight-loss surgery has many benefits and is a lifesaving procedure for some patients, there are risks. Risks include gastrointestinal leak, bleeding, pneumonia, blood clots, vomiting, wound infection, bowel obstruction and death.
